Just Cavalli Resort 2013 Collection Review

An undeniable nod to hip hop culture, this collection is both young and over the top without being...well, too young and over the top. Prints on prints on more prints, are typical Just Cavalli. Roberto, however, managed to make this collection fresh by keeping the silhouettes rather simple and letting the prints make the statement. From high waisted floral shorts that could pass as hot pants to a straight cut cheetah print dress with "Just Beautiful" clad on the front, this collection takes quite a few directions. Roberto, however, manages to seamlessly incorporate each distinct look into one cohesive collection, while still retaining what Just Cavalli is. The thick strapped sandals manage to add a lady like touch to a somewhat androgynous collection, a simple way to show just how sexy the Cavalli girl truly is.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 RTW Collection Review

I started writing a review for Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2012 RTW collection, only for it to be deleted. So in effect, I will have to make this review short and sweet. This fall collection is miraculous and filled with all the attention to detail and edge one expects from Burberry. Filled with beautifully nipped waists and just the right amount of color, this collection is reminiscent of a time not too long ago. A time when one could hop on a train and go wherever their heart desired and not worry about what it was they were leaving behind. This collection manages to tell a story through its artfully constructed skirts that seem to be the perfect length and pieces that complement each other effortlessly. I love the sweaters and the patterns that are used in this collection, and I honestly am enamored with the structure of the pieces. Just the right amount of feminine, sexy and edgy, I am definitely a fan of this season's collection.

 

 

 

Burberry Prorsum F/W Menswear 2012 Collection Review

No other collection could have defined the gentlemen so well. Slightly nipped waists, blazers effortlessly layered over suits, patterned sweaters and elegantly mismatched pieces manage to bring this entire collection together. There is something so attractive about a man who manages to look well dressed without looking overly feminine. This collection seems to tell the story of a man who knows how to dress. A man who wakes up on Monday morning, realizes he doesn't want to wear the same old business suit, and instead throws on a printed sweater over his trousers. Grabbing his grandfather's hat and his mustard yellow gloves, he laces his brogues and runs out the door. Without a look back, he has managed to throw on a well crafted outfit. Grabbing a cup of coffee before work, he catches the metro and runs to his office in the heart of Paris. This man is a renaissance man; a man of art and intelligence who is not afraid to woe the ladies (or men) with poetry and who isn't afraid to have his own defined sense of style

The layers and layers of beautiful outerwear, the animal accents, the use of texture and the jewel color scheme all make this an incredible collection.

 

The use of layering with a suit is incredible, so easy to do and has such a great result.

The use of color as an accent is fantastic. I like the fact that the colors are bold but not bright.

 

I love the classic Burberry Quilted jacket and vest, and I love the accent of the gloves. The look on the right is my favorite from the entire collection. I would probably have died if he was wearing a bow-tie though.

I am obsessed with the sweater and button down; I would wear those myself.

I love the herringbone accents as well as all of the bulky layering. The tribal accents contrast wonderfully with the put-together style of the look itself.

The leather jacket and the velvet suit are both incredible. Such a 40's throwback, it's absolutely beautiful.

Mismatched velvet and stripe accents make this collection incredible Burberry. Bailey has proved himself once again.

Alice + Olivia Pre-Fall 2012

I don't think I've ever been so enamored with a collection. I have always been a fan of Alice + Olivia's effortlessly cool charm; the sweet rebellion like nature of their clothing has always been one of my favorite to see season after season. I think I adore this line so much because it combines high fashion with the ease of being able to wear in real life. I love fashion, don't get me wrong, but if I were to wear half of the looks that come of the runway here in Georgia, I would get even more blatant stares than I already do. Alice + Olivia, however, make high fashion clothing that is extremely wearable while still looking ultra chic and fashionable. Season after season, this line puts out clothing that every music and art obsessed girl would die, or bleed, for. This season is undeniably the most amazing I have seen. Each look is the French girl, chic and edgy look that seems to be a paradox, but is easily put into effect by this house. From the fabrics and the cat eyed glasses, to the platform shoes and maxi skirts, this collection is undeniably one of my favorites of Pre-Fall. I love the contrast of showing skin yet having maxi skirts and the contrasts of fabric and patterns.

I hope I'm not the only one who enjoys this collection so immensely, leave me some thoughts!

Fall/Winter 2011 Trends and Beauty

I have been so inspired by fall fashion lately, and after picking up Harpers Bazzar's Runway Report for Fall/Winter 2011, I am more inspired than ever. Here are some of my favorite trends, looks, collections and beauty tips that I found in this issue.

 

Trends

 

 

Wildlife

Animal and wildlife have been an ongoing trend; being inspired by ones surroundings is incredibly fashionable, after all. This same trend, however, was translated to the runway, where designers such as Emanuel Ungaro managed to bring the outside, inside. From left to right; Emanuel Ungaro, Givenchy and Hermes.

 

Some collections channeled the outdoors more indirectly. Here are some of my favorite looks.

                                    

Altuzarra

If only one could look this chic while taking a leisurely stroll throughout nature. Although some of the looks fall flat, Altuzarra manages to pair unlikely fabrics and wears together; who knew a silk dress and a parka could look so good? The unexpected cohesion of this collection makes it a success. Altuzarra pulls off the unlikely pairings effortlessly.

 

                                    

 

 

Band of Outsiders

Band of Outsiders is that collection that everyone lusts over. Band of Outsiders has that look that everyone tries so hard to duplicate; elegantly disheveled, and effortlessly beatnik. The girls that wear their clothing, as well as the boys, are the Banaroo goers, the hikers, the ones who live in nature and just happen to "throw an outfit together" all the while managing to look amazing. This collection has a rather simple color pallet, but along with a variety of textures and many layers, it is anything but simple.

 

 

Fendi

This collection, although inspired by nature and all its glory, is for the woman who does not want to get her Louboutins dirty. With a color palette of deep jewel tones as well as patterns such as plaid, this collection reflects Fendi's look perfectly; never simple, never over the top, always just perfect, Fendi's Fall/Winter winter collection is undeniably fabulous. Incredibly prim and proper, it's indescribably ironic how perfect each and every look seems suited for the great and vast outdoors. The fur accents can't hurt either.

 

 

 

                                    

                                        

Beauty

        

Anna Sui

Incredibly mod and incredibly fresh, the makeup at Anna Sui really shows that less is more. Very reminiscent of the Twiggy era, this look calls for a fresh face and pearly skin. Simple, easy to do and incredibly wearable, this look is definitely a favorite. The line at the crease of the eye is incredibly lovely, and the thin linear at the bottom rim of the eye also makes this look incredibly interesting. Paired with peachy cheeks and some white linear in the inner corners, this look can be worn both in daytime and nighttime.

 

                                    

Proenza Schouler

One of my favorite design houses, Proenza decided to keep it simple with their makeup. Softly exaggerated cat eyes cast in taupes and browns, peachy cheeks and nude lips are the three ingredients that make this look so perfect. The strong brows, on the other hand, keep this look from being boring and too simple. Wearable and perfect for the daytime, this look will look lovely with every Mulberry bag and every Proenza Schouler dress

Happy Thanksgiving; a Beauty Post

I hope everyone is celebrating their Thanksgiving with their loved ones!

Although I don't tend to wear a lot of makeup, I usually wear liquid eye linear and mascara, I do love makeup quite a lot. I think that a good eye shadow, lipstick or blush can compliment an outfit or make a statement and I view it as an extension of one's outfit. I was on style.com today and came upon NARS's new palette especially for cheeks; it features some of their most popular colors, including orgasm, and is a simple way to add some color in the winter months.

I have also been craving lipsticks. I love the look of a deep plum or a black, not over the top, but classic in a different way. Anyway, I am in search of a good lipstick for fall and have found these.

This is MAC's Glitter and Ice lipstick in What Joy!

 

 

This is MAC's Soulfully Rich. I love the brown undertones in this, it will look lovely with both pale and tan skin.

 

 

This is MAC"S Ferverent from their collaboration with Gareth Pugh. I am obsessed with this color, and have decided I need it in my closet. It's rich and incredibly vibrant yet seems incredibly wearable. It's avant-garde enough to where it's noticeable, but it's still wearable if done with simple eyes.

 

This is NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Volga. I love the purple and brown undertones in this. NARS has incredible lipsticks that don't dry out your lips and manage to stay pigmented.
